If the war goes well with few attacks here in the U.S.A, the American left will rage "the greatest need" is to use soldiers to offer “constituent services” like cleaning up after a tornado not “winning unnecessary wars.” If the war goes poorly with a number of attacks here in the U.S.A, the American left will rage "the greatest need" is to use soldiers to "go on the offense and win in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan” not fight a police action here in the U.S.A because "our shopping malls are being bombed every week."
It is impossible to discount the impact of failure in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq on the American narrative. The U.S.A abandoned the democrats in Indochina and the Vietnamese democrats suffered the "killing fields."
Failure in Pakistan or Iraq or Afghanistan will make for bloody television here in the U.S.A and the American far-Left will use these wars and dead Americans as a political message to seize absolute political power here in the U.S.A.
