In making this statement, Bush reveals himself to be utterly clueless of the political war waged at home in the United States and hopelessly naïve about the extent of the damage to national security as he stumbled under “Iraq as a political message”

---

In his true legacy... Bush may be known in the main for having received the worst advice in the history of the Republic.  By allowing “Iraq as a political message” ...to go unanswered ...failing to quickly adjust strategy in Iraq ...giving loony far-left propaganda an opening as the "shooting enemy" ripped holes in his military strategy ...and for allowing himself to be so poorly advised, the damage to national security is deep and enduring.

How could so many on the national security council and on the joint staff be so CLUELESS...?  Could someone please explain to the President's advisors what the job entails of leading a "war party" in a democracy?
