How progressives attack - 1) depend on the Republican candidates having NOT done their homework; 2) use the Democrat party machine to steal votes; and 3) know the media will hammer any conservative gaffe for days and weeks

How progressives attack.  Two threads:

One:

According to Peter Daou writing in the Huffington Post:

“It took more than half a decade, countless American and Iraqi deaths in a war based on lies, a sinking economy and the drowning of an American city to finally kill Bush-Cheney-Rove's dream of a conservative realignment.”

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/peter-daou/liberal-bloggers-to-obama_b_429031.html

Two:

According to FiveThirytEight:

The weakness of the Republican candidates, along with more than $8 million in the bank, an extremely unpopular Republican incumbent governor, and control of the machine in a machine state, are what might allow Reid to keep the race competitive.  But increasingly it seems as though his chances of a victory might hinge upon a significant gaffe or scandal on the part of Lowden or Tarkanian.  There is a nontrivial chance of something like this happening; Lowden and Tarkanian are inexperienced campaigners, Nevada is a state where more politicians than not have skeletons in the closet, and $8 million pays for a lot of opposition research.

Liberals typically denigrate individual conservatives by applying one of two pernicious taglines: A conservative can be either scary/dangerous, or an idiot/lightweight.  The former group includes Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Tom DeLay, Rush Limbaugh, as well as neo-cons and social conservatives as a whole.  The latter group -- the so-called dunces, include Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin, Michael Steele and Glenn Beck.  And every once in a while, the liberal heart rejoices in applying both contemptible characterizations to the same conservative; George W. Bush enjoyed this elite status among liberal sharp shooters.

The only options:

  • Know all the far-left narratives forward and backwards
  • Take on the far-Left at every angle

Do the homework, truly study how the far-Left attacks and thinks:

  • A stand for law and order is fascism
  • Opposing radical, far-left economics is racism
  • Passionate p0litical opposition is angry hate speech
  • Compassion is not a private sector job but rather a government program
  • Big government interference is compassion and free market capitalism has no compassion
  • Conservatives organizing politically are always a street-mob and not civil rights activists
  • Promoting personal responsibility is oppression of the disadvantaged
  • And, finally, greed is bad but envy is good
Expect these attacks, so be hyper prepared, smart and calm.

Here's the bottom-line:
"QUAYLED and SCARY"
or
"BUSHED"

According to the Huffington Post:

“Kerry Charges Brown With Palin-Like Tactics As Dems Prepare For Worst”

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/18/kerry-charges-brown-with_n_427305.html

If you intend on being a conservative in public life, you'd better be hyper-prepared, having fully installed all the liberal narratives forwards and backwards.

Remember Dan Quayle?

Or how about Sarah Palin?

Why study how progressives attack?

Sarah vs Katie.

Katie Couric is a prosecutorial Leftist.  Democrat Martha Coakley is a prosecutorial Leftist.  Just read Coakley's comments about Catholics.  Nora O'Donnell is a prosecutorial Leftist.

Palin had no clue who she was up against.

According to CNA:

Massachusetts Senate hopeful Martha Coakley came under fire recently for her comments that Catholics who oppose emergency contraception shouldn't work in emergency rooms. Analyzing the remarks in an article this past Saturday, one political commentator said her “No Catholics Need Apply” mentality is a“genuine threat to American freedom.”  Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor of the National Review Online, criticized Coakley's statements in a column on Saturday and examined what she believes to be their far-reaching consequences.

Sarah Palin's advisers would have been wise to force Katie Couric to conduct her interview in front of a hand picked, thousand person, live, middle-America, audience.  Limit the interview to one hour and demand that Sarah open the interview by introducing Katie to the crowd and firing up the hometown crowd.

Scott Brown learned from Palin's mistakes and did not allow Nora O'Donnell or Katie Couric to define him.

When a New Left attack stalls, this is how the Democrat Party adjusts and attacks again.

Carefully read this thread because it's lays out the New Left strategy in detail:

The DNC and the DSCC did everything they were asked and have been involved in the race for several weeks, not just the last one.

The campaign failed to recognize this threat, failed to keep Coakley on the campaign trail, failed to create a negative narrative about Brown, failed to stay on the air in December while he was running a brilliant campaign. It's wishful thinking from a pollster, candidate and campaign team that were caught napping and are going to allow one of the worst debacles in American political history to happen on their watch that they are at the 11th hour are going to blame others.

Before the DNC and DSCC got involved there was barely a single piece of paper on what the narrative is on Brown. The candidate in this race and the campaign have been involved in the worst case of political malpractice in memory and they aren't going to be able to spin themselves out of this with a memo full of lies.

According to Chris Matthews:

“How do these people get so far in politics?  I don’t get it.  The most important thing in politics is the candidate.”

This is a must watch clip.

According to Newsmax:

On Friday, MSNBC's Ed Schultz stated on his radio program that he personally would commit voter fraud if he lived in Massachusetts.

"Yeah, that's right," he told his audience, "I'd cheat to keep these bastards out…. 'cause that's exactly what they are."

Schultz even specified how he would distort the election result: By stuffing the ballot box, he said, and voting as many as 10 times.

Similarly,Hardball host Chris Matthews reminisced at length, and almost nostalgically, about the days when "street money" would be distributed by machine bosses in Massachusetts to motivate Democrat-friendly voters to turn out at the polls.

Newsbusters.org Associate Editor Noel Sheppard told Newsmax that those remarks may represent an admission of how the political process actually works.

"I think just part of Democratic politics," Sheppard said. "I don't think that they think there's anything wrong with it.  As [author and progressive strategist] Saul Alinsky taught them, the end justifies the means."

"They're very much aware of how to stuff ballot boxes," Sheppard said. "They obviously know how to play the game. They obviously stole the Franken seat several months ago."

"One of the scary things" about the election is that getting the most votes may not be enough to win the race, Sheppard said.

"I think Brown's going to have to win by a good 3 percent of the vote, or else we're getting into a Franken-type situation, and we'll be recounting votes for God knows how long.  And obviously that benefits the Democrats," he told Newsmax.

According to Sam Stein:

One-time long shot Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown holds a narrow but significant five-point lead in the final Massachusetts poll, just days before the critical election will be held.  The state senator is favored by 51 percent of Massachusetts voters, compared to 46 percent who support Attorney General Martha Coakley's candidacy, according to a poll commissioned by the firm Public Policy Polling and released Sunday night. The advantage is within the margin of error.  Brown's late-stage lead caps a remarkable electoral turnaround for the Massachusetts Republican -- who many thought would be crushed under the heavy weight of the state's Democratic machinery.
